OSRS 1 to 99 Cooking Guide

Want to quickly get your cooking level up using the most efficient of ways? You’re at the right spot buddy! We have put together a guide with two different sections. The first is for F2P players while the second is for P2P players. We hope you like it!

Useful Equipment

To make the most out of your training, here are a few items you should consider obtaining. It’s not mandatory but if you want to take some weight off of your shoulders, then it’s best that you get them.

The first item is Cooking Gauntlets which can be bought after completing the Family Crest quest, and the second item isn’t really obtainable because you need to locate a convenient Cooking Range to use. Both items are helpful to reduce the chances of food burns.

F2P Players

Level 1 to 15

At level 1, you can start catching and cooking Shrimp. You’ll need a Small Fishing Net to catch them. A good location is a stream near Lumbridge Castle. Alternatively, you can cook Sardines, which offer 10+ XP than Shrimp. You can also purchase the uncooked version directly from the Grand Exchange to get right to it.

Level 15 to 30

From level 15 onwards, you’ll have to move to Trout. If you have 20 Fishing already, you can catch and cook them at Lumbridge or the Barbarian Village. There are many players who drop their fish, so you can pick those up when they appear on the ground.

Level 30 to 50

Now move to Tunas. You can catch them at Karamja Island using a Harpoon. You’ll need 35 Fishing though. Similar to Trout, you can consider picking up the dropped Tunas from the ground. Make sure you bring an Axe and a Tinderbox to start a fire and cook the fish because there aren’t any stoves in Karamja.

Level 50 to 99

When you hit level 50, you can switch to cooking Swordfishes. These can be caught in Karamja too, but you’ll need at least level 50 Fishing. We however recommend not cooking Swordfish until you reach level 86 because you’ll be burning a whole lot of them. From level 86, you’ll need to cook about 67k Swordfishes to reach level 99.

P2P Players

Level 1 to 50

From levels 1 to 50, you can follow the same steps listed in the F2P section. Here’s a quick reminder of what you have to do. Cooking Shrimp till level 15, followed by Trout till level 30, and then Tuna till you reach level 50. We recommend purchasing the supplies because P2P training is good money makes so you’ll make the RS Gold back.

Level 50 to 75

At level 50, you can start cooking Lobsters. The price can massively vary, but you won’t be losing much of your GP. Purchase roughly 9k Lobsters and start cooking them at your favorite location. Make sure there’s a bank close by. You’ll stop burning Lobsters at level 68 Cooking.

Level 68 to 80

Alternatively, you can switch to making Jugs of Wine at level 68. You need to purchase Grapes and Jugs of Water for it. You can consider using this method all the way to level 99, which takes roughly 35 hours. You’ll be spending about 12.5M old school runescape gold so if you’re low on funds, you can stick to Lobsters till level 75, and then move to Swordfishes to cover the remaining 5 levels.

Level 80 to 99

Once you hit level 80, start cooking Sharks! You won’t be losing much of your bank here either. You’ll see yourself 1 to 2 million GP lighter from level 80 to 99. It’ll take you about 40 hours to max out, so make sure you have your favorite playlist ready.

Conclusion

While Cooking is one of the easiest OSRS skills to train, you can make a considerable amount of profit from it by purchasing raw fish and selling the cooking versions back but make sure you do it when you’re maxed out to avoid any burns. Good luck!
