To provide some context, I’ve participated in every Playtest except the very first one. Much like many of you, I’ve eagerly anticipated this moment for months.
The game’s official release happened to coincide with my vacation, affording me ample time (during my wind-down at night or while waiting for a bus) to watch streams and engage with discussions on Reddit and Discord, absorbing information about changes, feedback, and general comments.
Given the immense excitement I felt to finally dive into the game I’d been eagerly anticipating, the initial surge of complaints on Reddit upon release did, to some extent, sow seeds of apprehension and despair.
However, I returned home a full week after the release and, to my astonishment, found the game to be an incredible experience.
I acknowledge that I might be viewing this through rose-tinted glasses, but I genuinely find the current state of the game more enjoyable than any previous playtest iteration.
The overall experience feels more polished and seamless, with improved performance and a wider range of gameplay elements. I’m particularly pleased with the expanded variety of viable build options, affording me the opportunity to devise strategies that can outmaneuver opponents and, at times, embrace my inner chaos within the dungeons.
Furthermore, the experience of solo play has also improved. Even in the absence of my usual group, I find myself capable of delving into the caves and dispatching centipedes to enhance my resources.
There is, however, one issue that stands out: the presence of cheaters and gold sellers. It’s reassuring to see that Iron Gate Studios is investing substantial effort into tackling this problem.
