I, as a fully blind player who cannot see the game at all, wanted to share my feedback on grouping in this game for a fully blind party.
Recently, myself and two other blind clan members grouped up and took on some instances and dungeons. While it was enjoyable, the screen reader feature constantly reading everyone’s health, resource pools, barriers, and fortify information got in the way of gameplay. Navigating dungeons was also a bit tricky.
However, the screen reader did read objective indicators in the overworld and dungeons, which helped us communicate effectively and find set objectives. Teleporting in and out of dungeons made finding each other easier compared to wandering around and searching for names on maps. We realized it’s best not to split up and ideally pair off.
During our boss fight, another player joined our party, and though we didn’t recognize their name immediately, they quickly understood that we were blind after listening to the party voice chat. They used their basic attack animation to guide us to the boss room, and we managed to teleport onto each other for the boss encounter, which was really helpful.
We have yet to try nightmare dungeons or held hides, but we were able to clear a dungeon just fine without much assistance. Events were easy to find, thanks to notifications and the map.
For improvements, we suggest adding sound effects when manually tracking side quests, objectives, or whispers. This would help us locate them more conveniently without having to rely on pinning them on the map.
Regarding the constant reading of stats, allowing players to choose which stats to hear would be a great idea. Personally, I prefer knowing when a boss is staggered or when I’m out of crowd control, and the other extra stats don’t impact my gameplay much. However, other blind players might have different preferences.
In conclusion, I want to emphasize that literally blind people can effectively run content in this game. Despite some challenges, the overall experience has been enjoyable, and with a few improvements, it could be even better for blind players like us.
