“I’m looking for an escort to Ironforge City. I will pay you 2 copper coins.”
Half in-character, intending to inject humor into the situation, I doubted anyone would take me seriously. Surprisingly, a level 23 Night Elf halted.
“Are you a bot?” he asked suspiciously.
“No,” I replied, “I am a real person.”
Our interaction, laced with perfect punctuation and quotation marks from my roleplaying days, raised doubts about my authenticity. He even tested me, asking me to jump five times if I were a bot. I jumped thrice, humorously justifying it. Eventually, he agreed to help, intrigued by the prospect of assisting a fellow player.
Trusting me a little, he offered a potion to increase my armor, initiating a trade with the condition, “please drink one and return the rest.” As we journeyed through the dangerous Wetlands, I attracted aggressive crocodiles, nearly facing death multiple times. Miraculously, my escort kept me alive, risking his character’s health to protect mine.
A third player attempted to join our journey, offering assistance, but my escort expressed jealousy, wanting to be the sole protector. We continued our chat as we traversed the zone, exchanging information about our professions. He was a cello teacher, and I, an art teacher. Grateful for his risky escort, I expressed my thanks, and he reciprocated, happy to help a fellow arts enthusiast.
Reaching Ironforge, my friend awaited us, and we showered our escort with public praise, thanking him for reuniting us.
